Atlantic Envelope Sold to National Envelope

Kelly Capital has sold Atlantic Envelope Co. to National Envelope Co. for an undisclosed sum. With the acquisition, National Envelope overtakes publicly traded Cenveo Inc. as the nation's largest envelope manufacturer.

After the close, National Envelope will have 4,600 employees and 22 facilities.

AECO started in Atlanta in 1893 and remains based there. It went private in June 2003, and in August 2004, AECO became Atlantic Envelope Company LLC. The company designs, markets and makes direct mail, specialty and transactional envelopes. It has 1,800 customers. AECO also has 900 employees and envelope manufacturing facilities in Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Pennsylvania.

National Envelope, Uniondale, NY, was founded in 1952 by Holocaust survivor William Ungar. The company is the largest women-owned business in New York and the world's largest privately held envelope manufacturer.
