Apttus, whose Quote-to-Cash solution enables sales organizations to serve up detailed quotes quickly via Saleforce.com, today adds X-Author for Excel, a service to simplify forecasting and promotion planning.

Like Quote-to-Cash—which searches a company's deal history to deliver quotes for similar jobs and contracts—the new service increases deal efficiency by merging thousands of stand-alone spreadsheets into the Salesforce cloud. In a secure, structured cloud environment, sales professionals avoid reinventing the wheel with instant access to a boundless number of use cases.

In beta tests since November, the Excel-based product, Apttus claims, delivered productivity boosts of up to 90% for some Salesforce users in tasks such as opportunity forecasting, marketing promotions, and case management.

Other benefits of the solution include allowing reps to work offline, continued ROI from existing spreadsheet content, and centralized Excel templates.
