Appleseed's Is Golden Like Spiegel, Newport News
Private-equity firm Golden Gate Capital acquired cataloger Appleseed's, a spokeswoman for the San Francisco-based financial company confirmed yesterday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.Golden Gate also owns the catalogs Spiegel and Newport News.
The nearly 60-year-old Appleseed's women's apparel and accessories brand targets baby boomers. It is sold via catalogs, www.appleseeds.com and retail stores. The company is based in Beverly, MA.
Appleseed's will remain a standalone company, according to a report yesterday on The Salem News Online, a local Massachusetts news site.
