AOL Releases Software Test Version

America Online, Dulles, VA, has debuted a test version of its next-generation software. Called AOL 5.0, the software can be reached through an innovative new Welcome Screen with added personalization features including "You've Got Pictures" and "My Calendar."

The AOL 5.0 Welcome Screen will deliver direct access to the AOL Channel-Guide, e-mail - with new e-mail signatures - top news headlines, weather and sports. AOL 5.0 for Macintosh will enable members to retrieve recently deleted e-mail from the Mail Center for up to 24 hours, provide added convenience so members can locate and open downloaded e-mail files more easily through the new "Locate" feature, and permit members to sign personal or business e-mail correspondence using the new e-mail signature file.

AOL members will also have the ability to switch screen names in Auto AOL Flash sessions without redialing.
