America Online said yesterday it would partner with PurchasePro.com to build business-to-business exchanges. The three-year alliance will allow business users on several AOL properties set up sites on business marketplaces built by Las Vegas-based PurchasePro. The two companies also agreed to develop technologies that will help streamline their business exchanges.

Users will be able to source, bid, negotiate, buy and sell products and services across the exchange. The interface will be tailored specifically to the size and type of business. The co-branded marketplace is expected to roll out in the second quarter.
