AOL, AutoNation Sign Multiyear Agreement

America Online, Dulles, VA, yesterday signed a multiyear agreement naming AutoNation its exclusive online car dealer.


The companies will develop a co-branded Web site that will be part of AOL's new AutoChannel, which is slated to launch in the fall.


AOL members who use AutoNation will receive benefits, including a year of free scheduled service, $200 off factory-ordered vehicles and $100 off the purchase of a theft deterrent device.


In other news, AutoNation, which operates 19 dealerships in addition to its online site, acquired AutoVantage car buying services for an undisclosed amount.
