An Epitaph for Self-Centered Companies

There is a great quote in the front-page story from the chief marketing officer at Experian ("Marketers Tell Their Side at House Privacy Hearing," July 30).

She is quoted as saying, "With all due respect, marketers don't care who you are as an individual." Girl got that right! And more's the pity! Nevertheless, it is a great epitaph for the self-centered companies that will not be here in a few more years.

Editor's note: In fairness to Experian, the chief marketing officer was talking about the issue of gathering personal information, not customer service.
