AmEx Reports Record Income for 2nd Quarter
American Express Co., New York, this week reported record net income of $578 million for the second quarter, an increase of 11 percent, and saw earnings per share increase 15 percent to $1.24 per share on revenues of $4.76 billion.Travel Related Services, which includes the consumer, business and international card services units, reported record quarterly net income of $360 million, an increase of 18 percent, on revenues of $3.27 billion. The gains were attributed to an increase in cards and higher spending per cardholder.
