AmEx Joins Forces With Compaq to Debut Smart Card Keyboard
American Express and Compaq Computer Corporation have joined forces to launch the Compaq Smart Card Keyboard, a PC-compatible keyboard with a built-in credit card scanner for online purchases.The smart card reader is on the right side of the keyboard. American Express Blue and Blue for Business cardholders can insert their card into the scanner when shopping online. Once the card is scanned, the cardholder is directed to enter a personal identification number.
The Compaq Smart Card Keyboard is available to American Express cardholders at $59.95. Cardholders can order the product online at www.americanexpress.com/igotblue and www.americanexpress.com/blueforbusiness/gotblue.
