American Express to promote US Open

For the 15th consecutive year, American Express has teamed up with the US Open to sponsor the annual tennis championship.

AmEx will support its 2008 US Open partnership with a multiplatform campaign featuring tennis stars Venus Williams and James Blake, called “Are you a Cardmember?” The campaign will run online, in print and through out-of-home posters around New York City.

AmEx will show highlights from the events online in partnership with the United States Tennis Association (USTA). In addition, AmEx will present live screenings of the games in Madison Square Park in New York, as well as at the actual events in Flushing Meadows.

As a part of the sponsorship, AmEx cardmembers attending the games will be given complimentary handheld televisions that stream live matches from each court as well as historical US Open moments shared by tennis stars such as Venus Williams, James Blake and Billie Jean King.
