The American Cancer Society has enlisted Convio's online fundraising platform to support Relay for Life efforts.

Convio's integrated program will power Relay for Life Web sites, which participants use to solicit donations. The software will also lend itself to online communication between Relay for Life supporters.

The American Cancer Society organizes more than 4,800 Relays nationwide each year, and each team in the Relay for Life spends weeks beforehand seeking out sponsors for their walk. More than 3 million people participated in the 2007 Relay for Life.

Convio TeamRaiser is designed to help Relay volunteers organize and contact their personal networks online. The American Cancer Society will leverage TeamRaiser to help Relay teams create and manage their own Web sites for donations. The platform will also allow users to send e-mails to team members, family and friends about their preparations for Relay for Life, post photos and progress supports and manage donations on- and offline.

TeamRaiser also allows The American Cancer Society to access reports and information using its own technology systems. Additionally, the platform supports the American Cancer Society's online outreach efforts.

The American Cancer Society is making a special effort to entice corporate teams with its new online offerings. Convio TeamRaiser has a National Team component that allows corporations to create their own multi-team Web pages, which serve as word-of-mouth advertisements for the Relay and provide inter-office competition.

National Team pages allow a company to show its top teams and events from every office, nationwide, as well as the total amount that all the teams have raised. Pages can sport corporate logos and messages from the company. National corporate coordinators will also be able to run reports from the American Cancer Society, tracking corporate team progress.

Convio, Austin, TX, provides software and services to nonprofit organizations. Clients include the American Red Cross, American Diabetes Association, Sierra Club and NPR.
