Amazon.com and Drugstore.com Form Direct Link

Amazon.com, Seattle, added a direct link to Drugstore.com, Bellvue, WA, on its Web site yesterday.

The agreement marks the first time Amazon has given permanent space on its site to a third party.

By clicking on a tab at the top of the Web page, customers can shop for health and beauty items from Drugstore.com directly through Amazon's site. The tab is located among Amazon's tabs for books, music, toys and other stores. The link takes customers to a co-branded page on Drugstore.com.

Drugstore.com will continue to use and market its own domain name.

Initially, shoppers will not be able to use the same shopping cart at both sites, and the companies will separately ship items.
