Amazon launches pay-as-you-go service

Amazon Web Services, a subsidiary of Amazon.com Inc., announced the launch of Amazon CloudFront, a self-service, pay-as-you-go Web service for content delivery.

CloudFront is designed to allow developers and businesses to distribute content through a worldwide network of edge locations.

CloudFront offers a similar pay-as-you-go pricing model that the company provides through its other Amazon Web Services (AWS) offerings such as Amazon S3, an online storage service, and EC2, its cloud computing service.

CloudFront will be compatible with these and other AWS products, the company said.

CloudFront lets developers and businesses deliver HTTP content through a worldwide network of edge locations.

“Amazon CloudFront provides low latency, inexpensive content delivery and simple integration with Amazon S3 -- without complex sales negotiations or up-front commitments," said Adam Selipsky, VP of product management and developer relations for Amazon Web Services, in a statement.
