Amazon Launches First Co-Branded Credit Card

Internet retailer Amazon.com yesterday announced a five-year deal with NextCard to launch a co-branded credit card.

Consumers can apply for the card by visiting Amazon.com. Available in platinum or classic cards featuring both the Amazon and NextCard logos, the card is good for both online and offline purchases. It has no annual fee.

The Amazon credit card offers 30-second online approval and access to statement viewing and payment, account alerts, balance transfers and Internet-enabled chats with customer service representatives - all on the Internet.

A key feature of the card is the loyalty program. Cardholders can enroll for free in the Amazon.com NextCard Visa Rewards program to earn points that can be redeemed for Amazon.com gift certificates and merchandise.

Also, purchases made on Amazon.com using the co-branded card earn customers triple rewards points.
