The Grand Rapids, MI-based marketing company said, "We want to build a strong set of online initiatives that will complement our core strengths in offline marketing and advertising services so that we can offer our customers a single solution to all their marketing needs."

Alternate Marketing plans to acquire companies with online expertise; develop new Internet products; and expand sales of its offline sampling, advertising and marketing services to dot-com companies.

As one of its first steps, Alternate Marketing also plans to establish an advisory board of Internet specialists to help accelerate the implementation of its Internet strategy. The company named Kim Garretson, co-founder of e-commerce Web developer NovoInteractive.com, to the advisory board.
