Alpine Electronics Names Crutchfield as Catalog, Online Retailer

Crutchfield Corp. has been authorized as the first catalog and online retailer for Alpine Electronics of America Inc.


Crutchfield, Charlottesville, VA, will launch the Alpine brand in its summer 2002 catalog and simultaneously open an Alpine online store at www.crutchfield.com/alpine, the company said yesterday.


At the May launch, Crutchfield plans to carry a broad range of Alpine components, including in-dash CD players, power amplifiers, speakers and subwoofers as well as accessories.


"Alpine had been sold exclusively in specialty stores through authorized dealers only," said Alan Rimm-Kaufman, Crutchfield's vice president of marketing. "For several years Alpine had been the most requested brand by our customers that we didn't carry. We anticipate that this will improve both our top-line sales and earnings for this year."


Crutchfield is an integrated direct marketer - catalog, call center and Internet - of consumer electronics. Crutchfield launched its Web site, www.crutchfield.com, in summer 1995.


Alpine Electronics, Torrance, CA, is a mobile electronics system supplier. It specializes in an integrated platform concept for mobile multimedia with premium components for digital audio/video media playback, digital broadcast reception, security and satellite-linked navigation.
