Albertsons.com to Offer Pick-Up Service

Albertsons.com announced plans yesterday to begin offering customers pick-up service at 36 stores in the state of Washington.

Albertsons.com, Bellevue, WA, is the online arm of the grocery giant.

The service will allow online shoppers the option of picking up pre-paid items at a local market.

Shoppers select the items they want online and pay with a credit card. Purchases made by 10 a.m. can be picked up at a service counter by 5 p.m. Orders placed by midnight will be available by noon the following day. The service will be free for orders over $5, orders under $5 will be charged a $5.95 fee.

The new system also will allow customers to purchase at the store additional items, which they may have forgotten when ordering online, the company said

Albertson's will continue to offer delivery service for online orders. The pick-up feature will be offered as an extension of that service.
