The service will allow online shoppers the option of picking up pre-paid items at a local market.

Shoppers select the items they want online and pay with a credit card. The service will be free for orders over $5, orders under $5 will be charged a $5.95 fee.

The new system also will allow customers to purchase at the store additional items, which they may have forgotten when ordering online, the company said

Albertson's will continue to offer delivery service for online orders. The pick-up feature will be offered as an extension of that service.
