Agency.com Enters Brussels Market

Omnicom Group Inc.'s Agency.com moves into the first phase of its European expansion with the purchase of Hypervision, a Brussels agency with clients like Mitsubishi Motors, Sony PlayStation and Samsonite Corp.


The acquisition yields 27 employees specializing in online marketing and Web development. They will work with their colleagues in fellow Omnicom shops TBWA and Tequila.


Hypervision now becomes Agency.com Brussels. Johan Hermans is managing director of that office.


The purchase is Agency.com CEO David Eastman's first major effort since he took over that post from Don Scales. Scales was newly named chief operating officer of icrossing Inc., a New York search engine marketing agency.


Founded 11 years ago, Agency.com has offices in Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, Amsterdam and London in addition to its New York headquarters. It has created interactive marketing campaigns and sites for clients like Visa, T-Mobile, Discovery Networks, 3M and British Airways.
