Wunderman taps data strategist

Ira Haimowitz has joined Wunderman as group director of data strategy, a newly created position pointing to Wunderman's increasing involvement in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry. With primary responsibility of managing the healthcare accounts, he will also work on the Nationwide, LexisNexis and Citi accounts. Based in Wunderman's New York headquarters, Haimowitz reports to Mark Taylor, EVP and chief marketing technology officer.

"My role is to help enable clients to get better insights about their customers and [to] better measure return of investment on their relationship-marketing campaigns," Haimowitz said.

"There's a trend across these industries to leverage customer databases and understand customers more than ever, both online and in more traditional channels," said Andrew Sexton, VP and director of North American media relations at Wunderman. "The position was created to offer a more premium service."

Haimowitz holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, and has held key marketing and sales analyst positions at General Electric Research and Development, Niskayuna, NY, and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, New York.

"I wanted an entrepreneurial growth environment and exposure to a broader range of industries," Haimowitz said. "Wunderman offered a great opportunity to take lessons from the client side, apply them to the marketplace and sell them to a wide variety of clients, and enable them to get the same benefits of customer retention that I delivered to GE and Pfizer - everything, including analytics, CRM and data mining."

His immediate goal is to help each client determine a timeline for successful data management, and to expand the breadth of industries to which Wunderman offers data management services.

"The biggest challenge is growing to try to meet demands - working with clients to prioritize, doing capabilities assessments in order to undertake a phased approach towards their goals," he said.
