Stevens-Knox, New York, assumed management Jan. 1 of the publishing files of Kiplinger Washington Editors. Not including enhanced database files, the account represents more than 1.56 million names. The account totals 12 subscriber and buyer lists and includes the 912,881-name Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine, Kiplinger's Retirement Report, the Kiplinger book and video buyers master file, Kiplinger's business master file and the executive files of the Kiplinger Washington Letter and the Kiplinger Tax Letter. New selects and segments have been added to four enhanced database lists: the 977,980-name consumer, the 605,000-name ethnic subscribers, the 385,000-name over 50 and 300,000-name women. "The whole idea is to create segments and selections that focus more on specific areas so marketers can hone in on them," said Stevens-Knox president Ralph Stevens. "We want to create ways for mailers to use a list they couldn't use before." Stevens-Knox takes over the files from Acxiom/Direct Media, Greenwich, CT, which had managed them since February. Previous to Direct Media, the Kleid Co. had held the account for 36 years. "We were looking for a list manager to aggressively sell all our list properties," said Angela Fling, circulation business manager and list manager for Kiplinger.
