Software USA Seeks Funds to Expand Telemarketing, Customer Service

Software USA Inc., San Diego, a direct marketer of memberships in computer-software clubs, said yesterday that it was seeking to raise $5 million through a direct stock offering in order to expand its telemarketing, membership services and customer support functions. The company said it was planning to sell 1 million shares at $5 per share in an offering that is scheduled to close on May 31.


Software USA uses telemarketing to sell memberships in its software clubs, in which members pay a monthly subscription to receive sample versions of software on diskettes or CDs. After testing the software, which could include games, educational programs or software for the home or office, members can choose to buy the full programs at an added cost.
