Romano joins OgilvyOne

OgilvyOne, New York, has hired Anthony Romano as a senior partner and client service director in charge of Aflac, Six Flags and Investools accounts, among others.

Romano comes to OgilvyOneáfrom Gap Inc., where he was director of relationship marketing. At Gap, Romano worked specifically on the Forth and Towne brand, which, after launching in 2005, closed in June of this year. Due to the brand closing, Gap is not searching for a replacement for Romano, although they did offer him other positions within the company.

"The content of the work is really very similar in that it's 360 integrated marketing," Romano said, when asked about the move from representing retail to working with other industries. "It's online and offline relationship marketing strategy, and that was very much what I was doing at Forth and Towne. These clients are seeking the same thing û to drive sales. It's a natural extension of what I've done."

Aflac, one of the main accounts now under Romano's direction, has been a client of OgilvyOne for two years. The insurance company recently named Ogilvy its agency of record for business-to-business marketing. Ogilvy now controls Aflac's digital and customer relationship management business.

Romano could not comment on OgilvyOne's future business strategies, explaining that the agency is currently in the planning stages for 2008.

Before his 18 months at the Gap, Romano worked as senior vice president, group account director at Havas' Arnold in New York. There, his main focus was interactive and direct marketing. Romano has more than 15 years of experience with direct, interactive and loyalty marketing.

Romano fills a space at OgilvyOne left by Riccardo Zane, who left to become the New York president of Omnicom Group's Agency.com.
