Database marketing agency Merkle Inc. announced the purchase today of Domain Group, an 85-employee direct marketing fundraising shop in Seattle with billings of nearly $40 million.

The acquired firm becomes a division of Merkle's agency group, creating a combined entity with more than 200 employees and revenue of $70 million-plus. The agency implements DM programs for clients in the nonprofit and financial services sectors.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Domain Group will retain its name and maintain its offices in Seattle and Atlanta. There are no plans to change its leadership, management or strategic direction.

The privately held Merkle, Lanham, MD, offers database marketing services to most industry categories, including fundraising. Nonprofit clients include the American Heart Association, Christian Appalachian Project, American Cancer Society, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Arthritis Foundation.
