Euro RSCG Gets Argos Account

British retailer Argos selected Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper, London, to handle creative on its $29.5 million account.

The three-way pitch included incumbent Ogilvy & Mather and Leo Burnett. The agency initially will work on Argos' new catalog, due in August.

Owned by Great Universal Stores, Argos recorded a 14 percent rise last Christmas. Argos' store catalog last year reported sales of $2.9 billion.

Argos joins a roster of Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper clients like Abbey National, Benckiser, Peugeot, Evian and Cadbury. The agency is Britain's 13th largest in billings size.
