Cybereps Merges With Interep Interactive

In another consolidation to hit the advertising world, online ad sales and marketing shop Cybereps has merged with Interep Interactive, the Internet ad and streaming media arm of radio media seller Interep.

Interep holds a 51 percent majority interest in the merged company, which will conduct business under the Cybereps moniker. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, although the merger also involved a cash infusion from Interep.

"There's been a rapid consolidation in our industry in the last eight months," said Mike Warsinske, who will continue as CEO of Cybereps, Sausalito, CA. "For Cybereps to be able to offer its clients the services that they're continuing to demand more and more of, such as more office locations and coverage, research and ad surveying and so forth, Cybereps found it necessary to join with a partner that had the existing infrastructure, and we found Interep met those needs."

Interep claims to be the leading independent sales and marketing company for selling space on radio and online. Its interactive division has created cross-media promotions for national advertisers, focusing on streaming audio and video entertainment.

Besides its controlling stake in Cybereps, Interep also owns ABC Radio Sales, MG/Susquehanna, McGavren Guild Radio, Infinity Radio Sales, Allied Radio Partners, Cumulus Radio Sales, Public Radio Network, Interep Networks, Interep Marketing Group, Caballero Spanish Media and D&R Radio.

The new Cybereps will focus on online and offline ad campaigns and sponsorships for content sites and networks. Media packages for clients will include e-mail, radio, streaming audio and video, custom publishing, cross-media promotions and online sponsorships.

Cybereps will now have offices in New York, Los Angeles, Detroit, Boston, Philadelphia and San Francisco. It will rely on parent Interep, New York, for marketing and promotions, cross-media selling, research and advertiser contacts.

Combined, Cybereps has 100-plus clients serving more than 850 million monthly impressions.

Cybereps clients include MSN, MP3.com, eMarketer, Brand Era, AutoWorld.com, Rolling Stone, Radio Wave, coupons.com, iBeam, AdCast, BizReport, TeenHollywood, IndexFunds, KIISFMi, and CAD infonet.

The company also publishes vertical content sites The Future Games Network and Totalwoman.com.

Warsinske said that post-merger, the company will aim to push multimedia packages to its clients.
