Caples Makes Last Call for Entries

Advertising agencies looking to submit entries to The John Caples International Awards XXVI have until Sept. 30 to send them to the organizers.

The New York direct marketing awards will offer discounted entry fees for entries submitted by Sept. 10. All submissions should have reached their designated audiences between Aug. 1, 2002, and July 31, 2003. More details are available on the site at www.caples.org.

Named for the famed BBDO copywriter John Caples, the awards honor creative advertising solutions to marketing problems. Andi Emerson, founder of Emerson Marketing, is president of the event. She founded it in 1978.

Strong entries for Caples must define a benefit, offer a response mechanism and seek a measurable response (customer retention efforts are excluded). The categories are consumer, business and nonprofit, spanning largely all media with a response element.

Funded by agencies, clients and suppliers, Caples is a volunteer effort. This year's general chair is David M. Sable, vice chairman and president of Wunderman's worldwide operations.
