Cambridge BioMarketing acquires RDVO

Cambridge BioMarketing, an agency specializing in healthcare marketing and communications, said December 17 that it had purchased digital marketing agency RDVO, a company it had contracted for digital work in the past.

"Historically, it's primarily been a print-driven business, but digital was becoming more and more of our business. We were doing more and more of it by using outsource agencies to get it done," said Steve West, CEO and chief creative officer at Cambridge BioMarketing. "RDVO was one of our favorite outsource partners, and this allows us to integrate digital into our shop."

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. No headcount changes are expected at either agency. RDVO partner and managing director, Ben Zipkin now becomes director of digital strategy for Cambridge BioMarketing, and Mike Demopoulos, former partner and creative director at RDVO, will take the position of creative director/digital technology.

"We had a good '09, and '10 looks really busy," West said. "The 10 people that joined us, their plates are full."

Cambridge BioMarketing's chief client is Genzyme. RDVO brings some other healthcare clients as well, but also has a relationship with Microsoft "we want to keep," West said.
