San Diego-headquartered digital marketing agency Digitaria is expanding to the East Coast with a new office in New York. The new Manhattan office is being opened to support new business and global growth.

Anthony Yi, a former Bertelsmann executive with more than 15 years of Internet and new media experience, will lead the new office. Existing East Coast clients include Hasbro, NBC, CBS, MTV, Comcast, Bravo, BeliefNet.com, the Baltimore Ravens and International Speedway Corp.

"Our core culture value proposition is service," said Dan Khabie, CEO of Digitaria. “It is important to service customers as locally as possible, and we got to the point that there was a need to start building up an office on the East Coast. New York was decided upon because of existing relationships and its proximity to the other cities.”

One such East Coast client is The International Speedway Corp., located in Daytona Beach, FL, which signed onto a five-year partnership with Digitaria last year.

“They were looking to centralize all of their track Web sites into one platform,” said John Van Spyk, SVP at Digitaria.

International Speedway, which runs 13 speedways nationwide, including the Daytona International Speedway, the Talladega Superspeedway and the Michigan International Speedway, is working with Digitaria to upgrade its Web sites into full interactive experiences. Four of the 13 sites have been completed so far this year, but the rest are expected to be done by the end of August.

“We wanted to take the experience of the event itself and put it online,” said Craig Neeb, chief information officer at the International Speedway Corp. “A lot of times people come to our Web site without having been to a race and so we are trying to bring the full experience to the site through multimedia channels.”

To support the new Digitaria office, the firm is currently hiring new staff. In addition, the agency also is looking to open a Midwest office later this year.
