A&F Reveals Replacement for Quarterly

Four months after Abercrombie & Fitch eliminated its controversial A&F Quarterly, Reuters reported that the youth-focused marketer has avoided "nudity, orgies and porn stars" in a new magalog replacing the Quarterly.

Carrying the title "Young," its 60 pages include "black-and-white photos of young people communing with nature, partying, creating performance art and brooding into space -- much like before but now with clothes on," reported Reuters, which characterized the summer issue's clothes as being skimpy but covering the "controversial parts" of the body.

That's quite a change from the days when the Quarterly generated protests. For example, A&F Quarterly's 2003 Christmas issue, its final edition, included advice on oral sex and group sex.

Its circulation was 200,000, with half sold by $16 subscription and the rest sold in stores for $7 per issue. The Quarterly started with the back-to-school edition in 1997.

Along with an expansion of its mailing list, the publication is free. It reportedly has no written content and is without merchandise information.

A&F did not return a call placed yesterday by DM News.
