Aegis CEO Resigns

Aegis Communications Group Inc., Irving, TX, said yesterday that president/CEO Hugh E. Sawyer has resigned effective June 15 to join Allied Holdings Inc., Atlanta, in the same capacity.


John R. Birk, chairman of Aegis' board of directors will become interim president/CEO. Sawyer will continue to serve on the board to assist with the transition.


Aegis also announced that its principal stockholders, who in March had announced an offer to buy the company's outstanding public shares, have informed Aegis they will not proceed with the purchase.


Aegis is a leading provider of multichannel customer relationship management and comprehensive marketing research, including database management, analytical services and market intelligence to Fortune 500 and emerging e-commerce companies. Aegis recently introduced e.Care.plus, a suite of Internet-based customer care services that provide enhanced customer response through client company Web sites.


Aegis' client list includes AT&T, American Express, BellSouth and Cendant.
