AE Adds Virtual Model to Site

Clothing retailer American Eagle Outfitters yesterday debuted My Virtual Model Dressing Room on its ae.com Web site.

The virtual dressing room, branded as "Me in AE," allows customers to use Montreal-based My Virtual Model's technology to see how clothes purchases will fit on them before ordering.

Customers create a virtual model by setting up a password protected account profile with information such as height, weight and hairstyle.

The virtual model can be rotated from different angles and there is an "E-mail a Friend" feature to solicit opinions.

"Internet sales constitute a growing percentage of AE's total revenue," said Michael Rempell, senior director of AE Direct, New York. "It is important that shopping is fun, easy and satisfying, and we are confident that the introduction of My Virtual Model Dressing Room will enhance our Web site and our customers experience online."
