ADVO Strikes 11 More Newspaper FSI Alliances

ADVO Inc., Windsor, CT, announced the expansion yesterday of its free-standing insert alliances with the addition of 11 new newspaper partners in Northern California.

The newspapers include three Knight Ridder titles and eight from MediaNews Group's Alameda Newspaper Group.

Through the alliances, the newspapers will merge their current advertising inserts with ADVO's ShopWise FSI package. Consumers who subscribe to the newspapers will receive the FSIs on top of their Tuesday paper. Non-subscribers in the area will continue to receive ShopWise inserts in their mailboxes on Mondays.

The new FSI programs begin in February, except for one that starts in June.

The participating titles are Knight Ridder's San Jose Mercury News, Contra Costa newspapers and The Monterey County Herald as well as MediaNews Group's Oakland Tribune, Alameda Times-Star, Daily Review (Hayward), Argus (Fremont), Tri-Valley Herald (Alameda, Contra Costa and San Joaquin counties), San Mateo County Times, Marin Independent Journal and Vallejo Times Herald.

ADVO now has 29 newspaper alliances nationwide.
