Advo Buys Canada-Based FACC
Terms were not disclosed, but the transaction represents the first international acquisition in Advo's 73-year history.
Similar to Advo, FACC uses proprietary software to leverage geographic and demographic information to identify desirable audiences and target advertising messages to consumers.
FACC supports the Canadian efforts of major international food-service/restaurant groups and some of the largest international packaged-goods manufacturers. Its client base includes more than 100 companies. Operating from a 52,000-square-foot facility in Toronto, FACC distributes more than 250 million pieces of ad mail yearly to targeted segments of Canada's 11 million households. FACC's current senior management will remain in place.
Advo spokesman John Frank said the acquisition would allow "Advo's clients who have operations in Canada to use FACC to do their direct marketing." FACC's clients with U.S.-based businesses now also could use Advo for their direct marketing, he said.
