Advertisers Can Get in on Google Settlement

A settlement administration firm is e-mailing AdWords advertisers who purchased search ads with Google between Jan. 1, 2002, and the present, that they are eligible for settlement funds in a major click-fraud lawsuit.

Google reached the $90 million settlement in Lane's Gift and Collectibles LLC v. Yahoo Inc. and other engines in March. Yahoo has said it will continue fighting the case.

"We work hard to manage the issue of invalid clicks, and continue to be very effective in detecting and filtering them. The vast majority of invalid clicks are detected and filtered out before they reach our advertisers' bills," Nicole Wong, associate general counsel, wrote on Google's Inside AdWords blog on May 21.

Wong said the settlement firm e-mailed advertisers about the settlement on May 19 and May 20.

Advertisers who purchased advertising from Google between January 1, 2002, and the present, can get more information at: www.clicksettlement.com.
