Adam & Eve Opts for Bigger Catalog

Adult cataloger Adam & Eve, Hillsborough, NC, has set out to determine whether size really does matter.

Adam & Eve drops its monthly catalog this week, just as it has for the past 35 years. But this time, recipients will notice a change: Instead of the usual 5 1/2-by-8-inch format Adam & Eve has used since its introduction, the catalog mailing this week measures 8 by 11 inches.

"We felt it was time to reformat and see what type of response we got," Cindy Lutz, marketing director for Adam & Eve, said of the change in a statement.

The new catalog contains approximately the same number of products as the old. The larger format simply allowed the catalog's designers to employ larger visuals and bigger text.

"As America gets older, it gets harder to read the small print," she said.

The larger format is a test. No decision has been made whether any future issues of the monthly catalog will stray from the traditional size.
