Acxiom Buys Risk Mitigation Data Firm

Acxiom Corp. said yesterday that it acquired InsightAmerica, a risk mitigation information and analytics firm, for an undisclosed sum.

InsightAmerica, Broomfield, CO, provides clients access to hundreds of national and state-specific databases that contain identity data, property records, addresses, phone numbers, motor vehicle and criminal records. Its customers include government, law enforcement, fraud prevention, consumer lending, receivables management and employment screening professionals.

The acquisition expands Acxiom's fraud prevention and risk mitigation services, the Little Rock, AR, company said.

"More than 10 years ago, Acxiom began building its capabilities to help insurance companies, banking and financial institutions and other organizations improve their identity verification capabilities to reduce fraud and make better business decisions," Acxiom company leader Charles D. Morgan said in a statement.
