Access Worldwide has moved its multicultural call center from Arlington, VA, to Hyattsville, MD, the company said yesterday.

The 20-mile move was completed Tuesday. The call center employs about 500 people, 65 percent of whom are of African American, Hispanic or Asian ethnicity.

The call center, part of Access Worldwide's TelAc Teleservices Group, specializes in multilingual teleservices and has agents capable of speaking Cantonese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese.

The new center provides 24,000 square feet of space and is capable of contacting 20,000 households daily for both inbound and outbound calls. The move lets Access Worldwide take advantage of lower operational costs.

The Boca Raton, FL-based company is a marketing services firm active in the pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, financial services and consumer products industries.
