IAB releases video guidelines

The Interactive Advertising Bureau released digital video ad format guidelines for in-stream, overlay and video companion ads to simplify specs and make creative submissions more efficient. The guidelines deal with linear formats such as pre-, mid-, or post-roll ads, as well as non-linear units such as overlays or product placements. The trade group is seeking com­ment on the guidelines throughout this month.
 

Big value for mobile at airwave auction

In preparation for the US transition to digital-only TV broadcasts on Febru­ary 17, 2009, the US Federal Commu­nications Commission held an auction last month for the 700-megahertz band licenses that will become available. This spectrum is considered especially valuable for its ability to transmit through walls and achieve faster download speeds - technology that is expected to advance the size of the market.

I'm not quite sure what the record for the longest client/SEM relationship is, but my money is that the average is around two years. This is to be expected for such a young and rapidly changing industry; when a client's spend increases tenfold, or an agency doubles in size, growing pains are bound to occur. What is unexpected is that few firms have completely digested what it takes to get through these pains to build solid relationships.
