Aegis adds to dental titles

Publishing company Aegis Communications has acquired three new titles from Ascend Media. Financial terms were not disclosed. Ascend's The Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry, Contemporary Esthetics and Contemporary Dental Assisting will join other dentist-geared titles at Aegis. The acquisition includes the titles' corresponding Web sites.

Through a combination of unique online campaigns and podcasting the 30-year-old-plus organization is reaching out to individual donors via the Web. Through most of its history, funding came from the sales of licensed products, grants and corporate sponsorships. Individual appeals began in 2004.
