Transcontinental acquires custom publisher

In a move to complement its newly created marketing communications sector, printer Transcontinental has acquired custom publisher Redwood Custom Communications. Headquartered in Toronto and with offices in New York, Redwood is a full-service marketing and communications company offering custom publishing and branded content services for both print and digital platforms.
 

VistaPrint joins with Toys for Tots for holiday cards

Printing and marketing services com­pany VistaPrint has launched a campaign with Marine Toys for Tots, creating six custom-designed cards for the upcoming holiday season. Half of the proceeds from card sales will benefit the charity.

Vertis Inc. has successfully completed its prepackaged Chapter 11 plan and its merger with American Color Graphics this week. The new combined company, headquartered in Baltimore and unified under the Vertis Communications brand, has 100 locations worldwide and nearly 8,000 employees.

Vertis receives court approval on way to merger

Vertis Communications has received confirmation of its reorganization plan from the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. Vertis said last month it would file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as part of its prepackaged reorganization plan to merge with competitor American Color Graphics.
 

Hewlett Packard ships 9% fewer commercial printer units in Q3

Hewlett Packard said net revenue was up 10% for its fiscal third quarter ended July 31, reaching a total of $28 billion. The company's Imaging and Printing Group, however, demonstrated some weakness, with declines in hardware revenue and printer units shipped.
 

Quebecor World extends contract with Parade Magazine

Quebecor World Inc. has renewed and extended its long-term partnership with Parade Publications to print 100% of Parade Magazine in the US. Parade, a division of Advance Magazine Publishers Inc., is distributed across the continent in more than 400 Sunday newspapers and is read in the US by more than 71 million people weekly.
