Two reps sponsor net neutrality bill in House

John Conyers, a Democrat from Michigan, has introduced The Internet Freedom and Non­discrimination Act of 2008. The bill was co-sponsored by Demo­crat Zoe Lofgren of California.

As mobile TV adoption grows, marketers slow to follow

AT&T announced on May 4 that it would begin providing a mobile TV ser­vice to subscribers in the US. The new service, provided by MediaFLO USA, allows users to watch live television programming from CBS Mobile, ESPN Mobile TV, Comedy Central and MTV, among others. Verizon Wireless started offering the same service — also provided by MediaFLO — last year.
 

Jaguar selects Euro RSCG to revamp digital efforts

Quebecor World faces more cutbacks

Quebecor World Inc. said it will close one US facility and significantly downsize a Canadian facility as part of its three-year retooling program, resulting in the loss of approximately 700 full-time jobs. Earlier this month, Quebecor World said it will close its Magog, Quebec, facility, which produces magazines and retail inserts, resulting in a loss of approximately 300 full-time positions.
 

Mailers lax on IMB compliance

Despite efforts by the US Postal Service as well as some direct mail service companies such as Pitney Bowes, news about the Intelligent Mail barcode (IMB) may not be reaching the majority of mailers. The IMB, developed by the USPS to encode routing and tracking information on mail, will eventually replace Postnet barcodes, which only contain the routing code.
 

Publicis Groupe releases Q1 revenue results

Publicis Groupe has reported year-over-year organic revenue growth of 5.4% for the first quarter of 2008. "Our margins and financial indicators in the first quarter were in line with our plans," said Maurice Levy, chairman and CEO of Publicis Groupe, in a statement.
 

Fay appointed CEO, Aegis Media North America

Aegis Media has announced the appointment of Sarah Fay as CEO of Aegis Media North America. Her appoint­ment took effect on April 21. Fay will take over many responsibilities previously held by Aegis Media Americas CEO David Verklin.
