Its efforts saw light this week when the 48-year-old brand was featured in a 324-page catalog drop to 2 million homes. Gander Mountain also expects to launch its own branded e-commerce Web site and catalog later this year.

Communications holding company WPP Group reported first quarter revenue for the three months ended March 31 rose 15.6% for a total of $3.08 billion. The North America region remained relatively strong throughout the quarter, growing faster than might be expected based on reports of an economic slowdown, according to a statement from the company.

Sharper Image Corp. is pursuing a sale of its business and assets. Any sale of the specialty retailer, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February, will be subject to approval of the bankruptcy court. The company expects to complete a sale via auction by the end of May.
