News Corp.'s social networking property MySpace has reached an agreement to collect $6 million from Scott Richter and his Web marketing company, Media Breakaway LLC, for allegedly spamming its users with unsolicited advertisements. The charges originated in January 2007.

In an effort to provide improved insight on promotional history, Belardi/Ostroy is expanding its Co-Op Connection division to provide enhanced reporting and expanded strategic services. The division works with "a few dozen" clients — among them Williams Sonoma and Coldwater Creek — on planning and managing usage of co-operative databases for prospecting and house file modeling, according to Polly Wong, SVP of the strategic services group at Belardi/Ostroy.

The Talbots Inc. today announced a year-over-year net income loss of $3.6 million for the first quarter. During the 13-week period ended May 3, the company suffered a net loss of $5.9 million in relation to the operations of Talbots Kids, Mens and UK non-core businesses.

Online Movie rental provider Netflix has taken another step in the move to replace DVDs by mail with digital distribution, with the release of The Netflix Player by Roku, a device allowing subscribers to instantly stream a growing library of movies and TV episodes from Netflix directly to the TV.
