2010 shipping rates take effect today

The US Postal Service's new rates for numerous shipping services, including Express Mail, Priority Mail, Parcel Return Service and Express Mail International, went into effect today.

The average price increase for these services is 3.3%. The USPS announced last year that it would not raise prices this year on “market dominant” products, which include first-class and standard mail, periodicals and single-piece parcel post.

Rate increases by shippers FedEx and UPS also went into effect today.
