1-800-Flowers Reaps Record Revenue in Q2

1-800-Flowers.com Inc., Westbury, NY, reported record revenue yesterday of $197.4 million for its fiscal 2003 second quarter, up 21.6 percent from the prior-year period.


Net income in the quarter, which ended Dec. 29, was $10.1 million, up from $1.8 million in the prior-year period.


Online revenue rose 25.2 percent to $75.8 million from $60.5 million in second-quarter 2002. Revenue from phone orders increased 21.9 percent to $114 million.


Shares of 1-800-Flowers fell 6.89 percent to $5.95 on Jan. 6 when the company said that it expected Q2 revenue of $197 million, $1 million less than it had estimated last October.


The company said it acquired 1.2 million new customers in the quarter, including 510,000 online. Its database includes more than 10 million customers. Brands include Plow & Hearth, The Popcorn Factory, GreatFood.com, HearthSong and Magic Cabin.
